Elephant Monitors Assam has been actively spearheading the case of Durga, an ailing wild female Asian Elephant in Golaghat District. Durga had been struggling in the forests of Assam burdened by a 20 kg dead radio collar that caused immense physical distress and neck wounds.
Our grassroots team conducted ground tracking in Golaghat, documented her medical condition, and submitted urgent petitions to top government officials demanding immediate veterinary care and removal of the non-functional collar.
